I was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, however my family moved to New Mexico when I was 3 years old. I have no memory of my birthplace. My Midwest memories were made later. I attended Minneapolis College of Art & Design in 1973 and ‘74. Porky’s, which was in Saint Paul until it closed in 2012, is my tribute to the Twin Cities.
In the early 1990’s I was a sales rep for an art materials company. My territory was Michigan and Ohio, but my favorite part of the job was my visits to the home offices near Chicago. Hot Diggity Dogs is my homage to the great city of Chicago, IL, where I could be found in the blues clubs after hours.
